The games market is pretty small but vigorous. One supplier of games for that other OS ported a game to GNU/Linux in six weeks and published the web-stats that resulted. They claim their investment in the port was repaid and sales/downloads continue. Their estimate is that 15-21% of their gamers use GNU/Linux and the release [...]

Change is in the air in 2009. 7 is being touted as a “Linux-killer” by sycophants of that other OS. This means the puppet-masters are fearful of GNU/Linux. They have been fearful since 2000 or so when IBM began to push GNU/Linux. Now their worst nightmares are coming true: netbooks give them nowhere to hide [...]

The relationship between Google and M$ is very interesting. Google operates in a different universe, one so far, far away from M$ that M$ has not been able to touch it. Google got into business on the web which M$ does not control. With a huge search/ad business, they could be a competitor of M$ [...]

I just noticed this tasty tidbit from China: “Windows and Unix command market shares of 41.8 percent and 53.9 percent, respectively.” So, with a billion future users of PCs in China, that other OS is starting from 42% and GNU/Linux is starting from 2.5% with three times the growth rate… Doom for that other OS. To exclude GNU/Linux from the new markets as much as possible, M$ extended the life of XP on low-end machines. Now M$ has included machines with [...]
