They are not a battle-hardened bunch weighed down with medals. The Debian developers fight a long-running battle to provide the world with good software free of restrictions. By latest count there are only 873 on active duty but they work hard herding 25000 software packages from scattered sources into a harmonious whole on 12 architectures. They serve no nation and all nations. They are true Freedom Fighters. After each battle has been successful, they immediately start another to achieve more capability and promise. Without a rigid command structure and only a rational policy for distributing and maintaining Free Software they keep winning, year after year. They have been at it for more than 15 years now and they keep growing stronger and producing a better result. They have reason to be proud and we are thankful.

My first use of GNU/Linux in 2001 was so remarkably better than what I had been using, I feel it is important work to share GNU/Linux with the world. I have been blessed by working in schools where students and school systems have benefited by good, modular software easily installed in most systems.
I have shown GNU/Linux to thousands of students and hundreds of teachers over the years and will continue in some way doing that until I die in spite of the opposition.
