There are rumours that M$ will layoff staff this month but there is solid news that a major distribution channel has already been shut down.
This should be sufficient evidence that M$ is in decline when they accept that monopoly is behind them and they must squeeze the last drops of blood from the stone. Gone are the days when BG quipped that illegal copies were OK as long as they were copies of that other OS. Now they have only to look forward to the days when they will have to decide whether to buy food or fuel. Those days will come sooner or later. I would not expect it will take longer than a few years before M$ is just another company selling products door to door at bargain-basement prices.
It is all good as long as schools do not buy the stuff at any price. We must save the children from involuntary servitude to the corporation.
The trolls are very active on the web these days. Desperate times call for desperate measures to prop up the Wintel treadmill. So many in the world of IT depend on the monopoly that its demise threatens their existence and the cash cow that feeds their children. It is sad that so many sell their children so cheaply instead of sacrificing all comfort for the well-being of the next generation. M$ has never been about the well-being of anyone but the clones at M$.
